United Rentals acquires Orange Hire
This page was last updated in February 2026
Orange Hire has been acquired by United Rentals, the world’s largest equipment rental company, effective June 15, 2024. This marks an exciting new chapter for orange Hire customers, one focused on continuity today and expanded capability over time.
What’s staying the same?
Customers can expect business as usual:
- The Orange Hire trading name remains unchanged
- The same Orange Hire team continues to support customers
- Existing contacts, contracts and service standards stay in place
- Earthmoving and traffic management hire services continue as normal
From a legal perspective, Orange Hire now operates under the statutory name United Rentals Australia Pty Ltd, while continuing to trade as Orange Hire.
What’s changing over time?
By joining United Rentals, Orange Hire customers will gradually gain access to a wider range of solutions, expanded support and global expertise.
Over time, this will include access to Royal Wolf Australia’s storage and shipping container solutions, delivered as part of the broader United Rentals network. These changes will be introduced carefully, with clear communication and no disruption to existing services.
What’s happening with the Orange Hire website?
For now, nothing changes.
Customers can continue to:
- Use the Orange Hire website
- Make enquiries as usual
- Contact their existing Orange Hire representatives
Over the coming months, Orange Hire information and services will be brought together under the United Rentals Australia website, making it easier to find everything in one place. Until then, the Orange Hire website remains active and fully supported.
